About Me

Hi, I'm Gabriel Goiri

Junior Software Developer

After studying and working in building networks, programming automatic systems and robots for the past 5 years, I’m ready to further develop my career and skills in software engineering, starting as a Junior Developer. In order to achieve this, I have completed the immersive course in software engineering at General Assembly.

This course has equipped me with a sound knowledge of programming skills in different languages, developer tools and project management exposure in agile environments. Now, I’m looking to improve and master my skills in this field, as well as expand my knowledge about the design and development of apps and programs.

Skills

Web Development Projects

Project1

Space Invaders

A simplified version of Space Invaders, created using HTML5, CSS, vanilla JavaScript, game logic and audio effects. A hard task primarily due to a 7-day delivery period.

Project2

The Lockdown Chef

A pair project with a 48 hours delivery time. The goal was to develop an effective app to provide a list of food recipes. The user types the ingredients they want to use for cooking and a list of recipes appear. The app was delivered using React.js, Express, Axios and online APIs for the database (Spoonacular).

Project3

Spot.me

Working within a team of 4 members, the goal was to create a full-stack social app to find gyms, post workouts and share feedback and suggestions. The front-end was developed using React.js with third-party packages (Mapbox) and APIs from Google to conduct research and map gym locations. The back-end was built using self developed models and databases. I worked mainly styling the app, used Bulma and SASS; I also worked with the front-end of the app, feedBack page and Profile, making sure the users receive all the data of the messages and posts.

Project4

Film-Space

A simple full-stack app where users can add films and share reviews. I created the back-end environment using Django with Python. The front end was delivered using React.js, Express, Axios and a third-party package (Star-rating).

Experience

General Assembly

The Software Engineering Immersive course was a full time immersive course of 12 weeks that included more than 300 hours of professional study. This course covered a range of subjects to give a strong foundation. During the course, I have gained knowledge of frontend and backend development with different tools and the ability to create applications. Due to the COVID-19, the course was fully remote and thanks to this experience, I know how to work online with other team members.
